TYPES OF BACHELOR'S DEGREES



According to the educational institution, Bachelor’s degrees are of two types:
BA: BACHELOR OF ARTS:
From the Latin Artium Baccalaureus; and depending on the place it could take three or four years.
  • It requires a majority of coursework be taken in the arts; areas like social science, humanities, music or fine arts.
  • Three years in European Union countries, Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, India, Israel, New Zealand, Norway, Quebec, Singapore, South Africa and Switzerland.
  • Four years in Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Canada, Brazil, Iceland, Pakistan, Scotland, the Russian Federation and the United States.
  • The Diplomas contain: Institution name, Rector Signature, Dean Signature, type of degree conferred, location at which it is conferred, and conferring authority.
  • Generally it is printed on high quality paper using ornate lettering and often archaic terminology like Latin.

BS: BACHELOR OF SCIENCE:
From the Latin Scientiæ Baccalaureus, it has also less common acronyms like S.B., B.S.c., or Sc.B.; and depending on the place it could take from three to five years.
  • It requires a majority of coursework be taken in the sciences; areas such as life sciences, physical sciences, or mathematical sciences.
  • Three years in Australia, Austria, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Quebec, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Cuba, Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Latvia, Lebanon, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad and Tobago, United States, Wales and Zimbabwe.
  • Four years in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Belize, Brunei, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Guatemala, Greece, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Lithuania, Libya, Malta, the Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Mexico, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, People's Republic of China, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Haiti, United States, Yemen and Zambia.
  • Five years in Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Egypt, Haiti, Spain, Syria, Macedonia and Sierra Leone

NEW TYPES OF BACHELOR’S DEGREES:
However, if we focus in a global scale, in the past last years many universities have expanded tremendously their ranges of bachelor's degrees. Depending on the specializations in territory education in whole the countries that have changed or increased these degrees, their only intention has being to train students in a specific career, and therefore akin to vocational education.
