BASIC TIPS:
- This section must both summarize and indicate the next step the applicant expects to take.
- Demonstrate the employers that you are the one.
- Be specific so that the reader does not guess wrong what you are asking for.
- Provide specific personal information including your availability date.
- Direct it to the particular employer, organization or reader by name and title; especially to the person who would hire you.
- Type it in the classic business form, and use the standard size paper if you are going to print it.
- Ensure yourself that the employer reads your resume by writing a perfect cover letter.
- Use proper grammar, simple direct language and familiar words.
- Remember to target your strengths and achievements related to the position calling attention to your background.
- Name exactly how you knew about the position at the organization.
- Explain the reason why you are interest in the job and the organization.
- Describe how your abilities are related to the qualifications for the position.
- Make shine your enthusiasm, aptitudes,personality, attitudes,and communication skills.
- Demonstrate you are an active person who will enjoy the offered position.
- Make sure to write you will do follow-up.
- Enclose the letter with some action statement of yours.
- Thank the company and employer for their consideration.
- Make a copy of all correspondence and keep it.
WHAT TO AVOID:
- Do not send your resume if you will not attach a cover letter.
- Do not duplicate the information of your resume; write your most relevant skills that match most with the job, instead.
- Do not try to copy it from a friend or relative; remember each cover letter is original.
- Do not extend your writing, just few paragraphs are enough. However, if you have done bigger research, you could write it longer.
- Ensure you are not appearing too aggressive or humorous.
- Avoid errors in your cover letter by reading and over reading it.
- Do not try to impress your readers; just write to communicate with them.
- Do not turn over your writing; get to the point.
- Do not write either meaningless, clichés, or wordy expressions.
- Do not be shy, and ask questions.
